Is soft washing safe for my plants?+
Yes — when soft washing is done correctly, your landscaping is fully protected, and that's a major part of how we approach every job. Before we start, we pre-wet all flower beds, shrubs, lawn areas, and trees near the work zone so any solution that drifts is diluted on contact. We use biodegradable, plant-safe cleaning agents formulated specifically for exterior soft washing, and we rinse all surrounding landscaping thoroughly when we're finished. We treat your yard the way we'd treat our own — no shortcuts, no surprises.
Will it remove green algae and black mold?+
Absolutely. Soft washing is the most effective way to eliminate green algae, black mold, mildew, and lichen from siding, roofs, gutters, and fences. Unlike pressure washing — which only blasts the surface and leaves the spores behind — our cleaning solutions kill the organic growth at the root. That means a deeper clean and results that last several times longer before staining returns. It's the same method recommended by siding and roofing manufacturers across the industry.
How long do results last?+
Most homeowners enjoy a clean exterior for 2 to 4 years after a professional soft wash, and sometimes longer with the right conditions. Properties closer to the coast, in heavily wooded neighborhoods, or with mostly shaded sides may see growth come back sooner because of the higher moisture and trapped humidity. To keep your home looking its best year-round, many of our South Shore customers schedule annual or every-other-year soft washing as part of their regular exterior maintenance plan.
Is soft washing the same as pressure washing?+
They're often confused but they're really two different processes. Pressure washing relies on high-pressure water — sometimes 3,000 PSI or more — to physically blast dirt off hard surfaces like concrete, pavers, and brick. Soft washing uses a fraction of that pressure, closer to a garden hose, combined with professional cleaning solutions that chemically break down algae, mold, and mildew. We use pressure washing for hardscapes and soft washing for delicate surfaces like vinyl siding, cedar shake, painted wood, stucco, and roofs. Picking the right method for the right surface is the difference between a great-looking result and accidental damage.
